ExxonMobil considers education as a driving force for progress and economic growth, and it invests significantly in education programs in Indonesia. The company believes students are vital resources for the future, thus it has initiated character-building educational programs in over 90 schools since 2007. These programs also extend to teacher training to improve teaching quality and school leadership in Bojonegoro, Blora, and Tuban. Approximately 22,000 teachers and 36,000 students have benefited from these capacity-building programs.

Furthermore, ExxonMobil has renovated 400 schools and non-formal learning institutions, improving facilities like classrooms, restrooms, laboratories, and libraries. In 2015, the company invested $1.9 million in a school development program in Bojonegoro and Tuban. This initiative, implemented in 12 schools over three years, benefited over 250 teachers and 3,900 students. The program aimed to enhance student and teacher training, school management and governance, and curriculum development. This holistic approach to education is expected to provide widespread benefits and ensure sustainable educational development.

In Indonesia, ExxonMobil has implemented a microfinance program aimed at fostering entrepreneurship, particularly among women and people with disabilities. The program, established through a group-based credit system, provides small, collateral-free loans, utilizing a peer monitoring system to ensure responsible budget allocation and loan repayment.
