About us

ExxonMobil Indonesia is proud to be one of the government’s trusted partners in developing Indonesia’s oil and gas resources and contributing to the country’s economic prosperity for over 120 years.

Today, at the Cepu block in East Java, we are working closely with our valued and respected partners, PT Pertamina EP Cepu and Badan Kerja Sama PI Blok Cepu to develop the Banyu Urip oil field.

The Banyu Urip field was built by Indonesians. Five Indonesian-led EPC contractor consortiums, 460 Indonesian subcontractors and suppliers; and more than 17,000 Indonesian workers have contributed during the development phase.

Since 2007, we have trained 110 operations and maintenance technicians from neighboring areas in East and Central Java. These technicians have been trained at ExxonMobil operations around the globe and have now returned to operate the Banyu Urip facilities.

Currently, the Banyu Urip oil field is able to produce up to 230,000 barrels of oil per day or contributing around 30 percent to the country’s national oil production. This makes EMCL as the biggest oil producer in Indonesia. Energy and Development Banyu Urip Oil Field Having safely exceeded the Plan of Development rate of 165,000 barrels of oil per day, Banyu Urip has reached a production rate of over 200,000 barrels of oil per day, delivering 25 percent of the national oil production.

ExxonMobil continues to play a role in helping meet Indonesia’s energy needs. PT ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia (PT EMLI), represents ExxonMobil’s downstream, chemicals and fuels business in the country. PT EMLI markets high-performance lubricants under the Mobil brand with sales volume of more than 165,000 barrels per year and has successfully entered the fuels market for industrial and commercial customers in 2016.

In June 2018, PT ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia completed the acquisition of PT Federal Karyatama (FKT), one of Indonesia’s largest manufacturers and marketers of motorcycle lubricants.

Included in the acquisition is the Federal Oil brand and a 700,000 barrel per year blending plant in Cilegon, Indonesia. Federal Oil is supported by over 40 dealers, 3,200 Federal Oil centers and 10,000 retailers in Indonesia. With Federal Oil’s expertise in motorcycle lubricants, the acquisition complements Mobil lubricants offer in other sectors where ExxonMobil has significant experience.

ExxonMobil is also committed in community development programs with three main pillars: education, health and economic development. Since 2007, over approximately US$ 33 million has been invested to the programs that have touched the lives of over 100,000 Indonesians.
