ExxonMobil and PLAN help enable women's potential to be agents of change through Global Women in Management program
- ExxonMobil Foundation’s Women’s Economic Opportunity Initiative helps women fulfill their economic potential and drive economic and social changes in their communities through the Global Women in Management (GWIM) program.
- ExxonMobil Affiliates in Indonesia are honored to host the 64th GWIM program in Jakarta which runs from 18 April until 13 May 2016 with participants representing six countries, including Indonesia.
- In partnership with Plan International USA, the GWIM program provides intensive leadership, management and technical skills training for 26 women from Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand (Maori), and Indonesia.
- GWIM to date marks 11 continuous years of commitment by ExxonMobil towards women’s economic empowerment.
- To date, ExxonMobil and the ExxonMobil Foundation have invested USD 100 million in programs reaching tens of thousands of women in more than 90 countries.
As part of WEOI, ExxonMobil supports the economic empowerment of women through its investment in Plan International USA’s Global Women in Management (GWIM) program, a four-week workshop and training program designed to support and advance women’s leadership around the world.
This year, eight participants from Indonesia joined this program; together with 18 participants from six Asian countries. They will examine and adapt best practices that advance women's economic opportunities and meet the needs of their own communities and countries. Graduates of the Indonesia workshop will join the GWIM alumni network of more than 750 leaders who are working to improve communities in over 75 countries worldwide.
Since 2005, GWIM has provided intensive training and skills development for 38 Indonesian women. These GWIM alumni have gone on to have considerable success in leading and developing entrepreneur groups.
The GWIM program, implemented by PLAN International USA, is designed to prepare women leaders to assume increased responsibilities and accountability in their personal, institutional and community lives and is intended to bolster skills in program and financial management, leadership, fundraising and proposal development, strategic communication, supervision and advocacy.

In addition to strengthening individual women leaders, the program has had ripple effects throughout the communities where these women work, resulting in a multiplier effect of the overall benefits of the program.
