Students are Indonesia’s most promising resource and they are the key to Indonesia’s future. We believe that education is a driving force in achieving progress, development and economic growth. Thus, our goal is to give students the opportunities needed to become tomorrow’s leaders. Students’ characters are built through a positive and holistic learning process.
Since 2010, ExxonMobil Indonesia initiated and supported a holistic character building educational program in more than 90 schools in Bojonegoro, Blora and Tuban. The program also supports aspiring teachers through a teachers training program in Jakarta.
Our education initiatives also aim to enhance the learning process. We have been engaging teachers and each school’s management to create a learning environment that is fun, joyful and allows active endeavors. Through various teacher training programs, we have improved the quality of teachers and the school’s principals in Bojonegoro, Blora and Tuban.
This program is intended to provide professional skills for educators, in order to better meet the needs of students. Collectively, around 5,000 teachers have been trained. In addition, more than 36,000 students have benefited from the capacity building program.
Alongside this, we have refurbished 280 schools and non-formal learning institutions, some of which are now equipped with improved classrooms, sanitary restrooms, laboratories and libraries.
In 2011, Exxon Mobil Corporation also committed US$ 3.15 million towards the establishment of school with international standard for 200 high achieving students from financially underprivileged families, including students from North Aceh, Bojonegoro, Blora and Tuban.
In 2015, Exxon Mobil Corporation also launched a school development program in Bojonegoro and Tuban with an investment of US$ 1.9 million. This program was implemented in six schools over a three years period, benefiting more than 250 high school and junior school teachers, and almost 4,000 students. The program was intended to improve student and teacher training programs, school management and governance, as well as enabling better curriculum development.
A holistic approach into all elements of education is believed to bring wider multiplier effects, while ensuring the sustainability of developing the education sector.
