Since 2007, ExxonMobil Indonesia has initiated and supported a comprehensive character-building educational program in more than 90 schools in Bojonegoro, Blora, and Tuban. The program also helps aspiring teachers through the teachers’ training program in Jakarta and other locations.
Besides that, our education initiatives also aim to enhance the learning process. We have been engaging teachers and school staff to create a fun, joyful, and participative learning environment. Through various teacher training programs, we have improved the quality of teachers and the school’s principals in Bojonegoro, Blora, and Tuban.
Moreover, this program is intended to provide professional skills for educators to meet students’ needs better. Collectively, around 22,000 teachers benefited from the education program. In addition, more than 36,000 students have benefited from the capacity-building program. In accordance with that, we have renovated 400 schools and non-formal learning institutions. Some are now equipped with improved classrooms, hygienic restrooms, laboratories, and libraries.
In 2015, ExxonMobil Corporation also launched a school development program in Bojonegoro and Tuban with US$1.9 million investments. We implemented this program in 12 schools within three years, benefiting more than 250 senior and junior high school teachers and around 3,900 students. The program was intended to improve student and teacher training programs, school management and governance, as well as better curriculum development.
A holistic approach to all elements of education is believed to bring wider multiplier effects. Also, at the same time, it ensures that education development proceeds sustainably.
