Since 2010, ExxonMobil Indonesia initiated and supported a holistic character building education program in 120 North Aceh schools. In Bojonegoro, Blora and Tuban, the program has been implemented in more than 90 schools since 2010. The program also supports aspiring teachers through a teachers training program in Jakarta.
Our education initiatives also aim to enhance the learning process. We have been engaging teachers and school management to make the learning environment a fun, joyful and active endeavor. Through various teacher training programs, we have improved the quality of teachers and school principals in Bojonegoro, Blora and Tuban. This program is intended to provide professional skills for educators in order to better meet the needs of students. Collectively, around 3,300 teachers have been trained. Alongside this, we have refurbished 280 schools, some of which are now equipped with improved classrooms, sanitary restrooms, labouratories, and libraries.
In 2011, Exxon Mobil Corporation also committed $3.15 million towards the establishment of international standard school for 200 high-achieving students from financially underprivileged families, including students from North Aceh, Bojonegoro, Blora and Tuban.
In 2015, Exxon Mobil Corporation also launched a school development program in Bojonegoro and Tuban with an investment of $1.9 million.
This program will be active in six schools over a three year period, benefiting more than 250 high school and junior school teachers and over 3,960 students. The program intends to improve student and teacher training, school management and governance and curriculum development.
