1968 Begins Production Sharing Contract (PSC) operatorship in Aceh province

1971 The discovery of Arun field in Aceh province

1973 First Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) contract signed with Japan

1980 PSC signed for Natuna D-Alpha field

1981 Second LNG contract signed with Japan

1982 Start up of third Arun field cluster

1983 LNG contract signed with South Korea

1993 Mobil establishes a sales office in Indonesia

1996 Esso establishes a sales office in Indonesia

1997 3,000th LNG cargo sold from Arun field

1998 Celebration of 100 years in Indonesia

1999 Exxon and Mobil merger to become Exxon Mobil Corporation

2000 Technical Assistance Contract (TAC) operator in onshore Cepu block, East and Central Java provinces

2001 A discovery of an estimated 450 million barrels of oil at Banyu Urip oil field, Cepu block

2003 Establishes PT ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia (PT EMLI)

2005 Signs Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for Cepu block and assigned as operator

2006 4,000th LNG cargo sold from Arun field

2007 Mandar Block, Makassar Strait, awarded to ExxonMobil

2008 First oil production from the Banyu Urip field is commenced through the Early Processing Facility (EPF) which began the production of 20,000 barrels of oil per day in 2009.

2011 Five major Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) are awarded to five consortiums – commencement of work for the full field development of the Banyu Urip project

2015
October – ExxonMobil assigns its interest in the NSO and B blocks PSCs to Pertamina
December – The start-up of Banyu Urip’s onshore Central Processing Facility (CPF)

2016 Plan of Development (POD) production of 165,000 barrels of oil per day is achieved at Banyu Urip field.

Cepu block

The Cepu Cooperation Contract (KKS) was signed on 17 September 2005 and covers the Cepu contract area in Central Java and East Java. ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (EMCL), Ampolex Cepu PTE LTD., PT Pertamina EP Cepu and four local government companies, PT Sarana Patra Hulu Cepu (Central Java), PT Asri Dharma Sejahtera (Bojonegoro), PT Blora Patragas Hulu (Blora) and PT Petrogas Jatim Utama Cendana (East Java) together constitute the Contractor under the Cepu KKS.
